Last January 12, 2020, Taal Volcano, considered to be the second most active volcano in the Philippines, started spewing ash. From Alert level 2, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) raised the alert status to Level 4 which means that a hazardous eruption could take place anytime.
Batangas, where the Taal Volcano is located, was placed under a state of calamity. Heavy ashfall and volcanic earthquakes were reported. The ashfall also reached some parts of Metro Manila. With the Taal Volcano’s unrest, the residents from the municipalities near Taal were forced to evacuate their homes.
With thousands of people affected from the Taal Volcano eruption, CTSI Logistics extended assistance to the victims of the Taal Volcano eruption by providing mattresses as donations through the GMA Kapuso Foundation, a non-government organization.
In line with the company’s environmental advocacy, CTSI Logistics also donated tumblers to help minimize solid waste problem in evacuation centers.
