 CCS
Friday, December 19, 2008

An output of RA 9502 (Universally Accessible, Cheaper Quality Medicines Acts of 2008 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations), the DOH together with its partners and stakeholders presented the grand simultaneous launching of the "P100" project on December 18 dubbed, "Cheaper and Quality Medicines are Coming To Town".

P100 is a program of DOH and the local government units which provides for cheaper medicines in the amount of One Hundred Pesos (P100) which comes in package enough for basic treatment like antibiotics and drugs for respiratory tract infection to be taken in seven days. The package will include medicines for treatment of leading causes of mortality and morbidity to include among others respiratory tract infections, gastroenteritis/ulcers, diabetes, hypertension and cancer.

CTSI Logistics provides the warehousing, repacking of medicines and nationwide distribution of all P100 packages through its major pharma client PITC Pharma Incorporated (PPI). "CTSI Philippines is proud to be part of this noble project of the Philippine Goverment to bring down the cost of quality medicines," said Jose Adrias, Jr., Airfreight and Courier Manager, "making it more affordable to the public especially to the underprivileged.

We look at it not just a business opportunity for CTSI but more importantly, as a means to put into practice our Social Responsibility," he added. Guests during the launching were Hon. Francisco T. Duque III, MD, Secretary of Health who was at the East Ave Medical Center, heading the sequential launching in key points across the country via video feed. At the CTSI Logistics Warehouse in Bicutan, Hon. Rolando M. Bautista, MD, President of PITC Pharma Inc., headed the launching together with CTSI Logistics General Manager, Lito Austria.
