 WIA HONORS CTSI, DAI-ICHI
 CCD
Monday, June 06, 2005

SAIPAN – For their continued efforts and commitment to hire and train resident workers, CTSI and Dai-Ichi Hotel Saipan Beach joined nine other Saipan businesses in receiving honors from the Workforce Investment Agency (WIA).

WIA Executive Director Jesse Stein expressed that he was very pleased to recognize Saipan businesses that continue to develop members of the local workforce by giving them opportunities to learn and enhance their skills.

Along with WIA Board Chairman Patrick Calvo, Stein presented the awards at the Dai-ichi Hotel Saipan Beach’s Hibiscus Hall last May 20, during the dinner reception of the Marianas Roundtable – a gathering of influential leaders from Micronesia and the Asia Pacific region, which Tan Holdings jointly sponsored with other Saipan businesses.

"It was truly a great feeling as this is part of CTSI’s true commitment to the CNMI community,” expressed CTSI Saipan General Manager Rene Magalong. “We feel that we need to educate the public about Tan Holdings by proving our commitment to our social responsibility.” “Also, this (hiring and training resident workers) is our way of giving back to the community the opportunity for having the business on the island grow,” added Tan Holdings HR Manager for Non-apparel Companies Joji Silva.

With much support from the WIA and the other businesses on the island, CTSI and Dai-ichi have a positive outlook for the growth of Saipan’s workforce and economy. “We have seen a lot of investments going on in Saipan, particularly hotel renovations of Dai-ichi, Aqua Resort, New World Hotel and Saipan Grand,” shared Magalong. “New establishments are also being constructed and our international airport is having a major renovation, which would show that there are a lot of business opportunities happening.”

“The program of WIA is meant to work closely with the employers in providing the technical and behavioral trainings,” concludes Silva. “CTSI has shown its commitment to support the government's thrust of providing employment opportunities. The company will indeed play a significant role for the future of CNMI's workforce.”
