REALIZING the many Filipinos working in the republic of Palau who needed reliable remittance services, Western Union (WU) opened their first branch on the island last June 15. This was made possible through a strategic partnership with CTSI Logistics.
The worldwide leader in money transfer services started its festive inauguration with a colorful motorcade, culminating in a Filipiniana-themed party at the CTSI Logistics Warehouse located on Malakal, Koror where Western Union is also based. With such a grand opening, Western Union’s launching attracted many guests.
Palau: the 203rd member
Michael Tauber, regional vice president of Western Union Asia Pacific commented: “This partnership with CTSI Logistics expands the reach of Western Union into the South Pacific, which remains a strong growth region. We are very pleased to welcome the Republic of Palau as the 203rd member country/territory of our global network.”
David Chin, Western Union regional manager for the Pacific Islands said: "At Western Union we are constantly striving to deliver complete customer satisfaction and network enhancement. This strategic relationship with CTSI Logistics establishes our presence in Palau and means that more people wishing to send or receive money have access to Western Union's fast, reliable and convenient money transfer service.”
“We are excited to be able to serve the Palauan community for their money transfer needs,” Chin added. “From receiving a quick transfer from your family working in the United States or around the islands of Saipan, Guam or Hawaii, to serving the communities that are working in Palau, we are happy to help people send money home to their families.”
Improving lives
Danny Lim, general manager for CTSI Palau, believes that the strategic relationship with Western Union will improve the lives of the people of Palau and make it easier to control their finances. “CTSI Logistics’ strategic relationship with Western Union gives us an opportunity to expand our current array of services to include fast and convenient money transfer as we aim to serve our customers better.
"The Western Union Money Transfer service is important for potential customers who need to send and receive money quickly with a peace of mind that they are dealing with a reputable local and global company."
Such confidence in Western Union’s name could be seen when the flood of customers that swarmed their office on its first day kept on coming until the late hours of the night.
Tia Belau
With such a globally-recognized brand like Western Union and CTSI Logistics’ reputation for efficient service, the opening last June 15 was featured by the local newspaper, Tia Belau, in its June 17-24 release, volume 14, issue 24.
Chin was quoted by the broadsheet that they aim to serve the local clients better compared to other existing money remittance establishments. Lim was also quoted saying they are planning to extend their regular 8am to 5pm schedule to 8am to 7pm to cater to those who can’t beat the 5pm closing time. |
