PARTNERING with socio-civic organization STAP (Samahang Tagalog atbp sa Ponape or Association of Tagalogs in Pohnpei) as co-sponsors, CTSI Pohnpei and Western Union (WU) conducted a medical mission for the people of Pohnpei last November 6, 2005.
The project was in cooperation with FSM Health Insurance, Medpharm Pharmacy and Clinic and the Pohnpei State Hospital.
“This is part of the social responsibility of each company and organization involved,” said Ray Musada, CTSI Pohnpei station manager.
After a 40-minute drive from Kolonia, the capital town of Pohnpei, CTSI and WU team members arrived at Madolenihmw, the site where they carried out their medical mission. (The site was chosen because its residents do not have access to medical services due to its location). The team carried out the medical mission from 10am to 2pm, serving about 200 patients. Free consultation was given, as well as basic laboratory procedures and medicines. “We were able to serve mostly children and senior citizen,” said Musada. “The day turned out to be a success.” |
