CTSI US passed all documentation and training requirements of the Transportation Security Authority’s (TSA) Certified Cargo Screening Program (CSSP) to become an approved Certified Cargo Screening Facility (CCSF) effective October 06, 2011.
The accreditation included several TSA trainings and testing, with airfreight staff required to pass the STA (Security Threat Assessment) and update all TSA/CCSF documentation.
CCSFs carry out a TSA-approved security program and must adhere to strict chain-of-custody requirements to secure cargo from the time it is screened until it is loaded onto a passenger aircraft. They must also implement a multi-layered security program that includes appointing security coordinators, strict access controls and vetting of key personnel.
The Certified Cargo Screening Program was initiated to help the industry meet the cargo screening mandate as stipulated in the 9/11 Act. This law requires that all cargo transported on a passenger aircraft be screened for explosives as of August 1, 2010.
The accreditation is valid through 2014, where a re-certification will be in order.
